through the eyes of my daddy

Becki had her swim banquet Thursday and she began having contractions about midway through it.  She talked kind of fast during awards because she didn't want to have a baby at Downtown Bar & Grill.  We were able to make it through the banquet and went home to make sure we were ready to go to the hospital.  After she laid down for a little bit, she decided it was time to go.
We checked into the hospital at about 11:20 p.m. and let the grandparents know what was going on.  She began having really good contractions at midnight.  She then requested an epidural, but she had to have a complete IV bag in her before they would do that.  I was afraid she was going to kill somebody when she found that out, but luckily I am still alive.  Her contractions began to increase and then they told her she had to sign some papers before they could deliver the baby.  Again, I feared for my life.  She was able to sign the paperwork among the contractions.  She told the nurses that she had to push, but they told her to wait because the doctor wasn't there yet.
After persuading the nurses that she couldn't wait anymore, they prepared themselves to deliver.  Becki didn't wait for the doctor and delivered at 12:31 a.m. on Friday March 24, 2000.  Luckily everything went fairly quickly and it was quit painless for me, other then the times I feared for my life.   I am sure Becki has a different story, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
